Porcelain is a man-made product that is created from clay and it contains minerals such as Kaolinite along with silicon and feldspars. Those minerals work together to make the strength and durability of porcelain.

These materials are put into a kiln together and then fired at extremely high temps, which produces a very strong dense material, that can handle a hot pot or pan directly on the surface without any damage. Porcelain is highly stain and scratch resistant. It can withstand sun and rain, making it great for for the outdoors.

Unlike natural stone or quartz, porcelain is not a through body product. The color and pattern is printed on the surface and does not go through the body of the slab, limiting the edge styles compared to quartz and natural stone.

Porcelain can be easily damaged during fabrication and installation, making it challenging to find a qualified shop to fabricate and install porcelain countertops.
